Vedic Global Structure

Structure

In order to carry out its service programs, Vedic Global (VG) will be structured into Vedic Centres, Vedic districts, and Vedic Zones. People believing in Sarv Jan Hitay सर्वजन हिताय (wellbeing of all), Sarv Jan Sukhay सर्वजन सुखाय (Happiness for all), सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः – Sarvey Santu Niramayah (all be disease-free) and वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam (the world is one family) will be members of these centre and will be called Sanatanis. The centres will be chartered by the global organization Vedic Global (VG) headquartered in Australia. For administrative purposes, the worldwide centres will be grouped into districts and the districts into zones and zones into country and countries into Global.

The Vedic Centres will be the operational unit of Vedic Global activity, and each centre will determine its own membership as per the constitution. Centres originally will be limited to a single centre per city, municipality, or town, and in due course the formation of one or more additional centres in large cities when practical. Most Centres will meet weekly, usually online on a weekday and once a month in a regular location when Santanis can discuss centre business and hear from guest speakers. Each centre will also conduct various service projects within its local community and will participate in special projects involving other Centres in the local district, and occasionally a special project in a “sister centre” in another nation. Most Centres will also hold events at least quarterly and in some cases more often and/or on a needs basis.

Each centre will elect its own president and officers among its active members for a one-year term. The Centres will enjoy considerable autonomy within the framework of the standard constitution and the constitution and bylaws of Vedic Global. The governing body of the centre will be the Vedic Centre Board (may be called Vedic Centre Council), consisting of the centre president (who serves as the Board Chairman), a president-elect, centre secretary, centre treasurer, and several Centre Board directors, including the immediate past president and the President-Elect. The president usually appoints the directors to serve as chairs of the major centre committees, including those responsible for preservation, leadership, modernisation, growth, and education.

Sanatanis may attend any Vedic centre around the world at one of their weekly meetings.

District level

A district governor, who will be an officer of Vedic Global and will represent the VG board of directors in the field, will lead his/her respective Vedic district. Each governor will be nominated by the Centres of his/her district, and elected by all the Centres meeting in the annual VG District Convention held each year. The district governor will appoint assistant governors from among the Sanatanis of the district to assist in the management of Vedic activity and multi-centre projects in the district.

Zone level

Approximately 10-20 Vedic districts may form a zone. A zone director, who serves as a member of the VG board of directors, may head two zones. The zone director will be nominated by the Centres in the zone and elected by the convention for the terms of two consecutive years.

Country Level

All the Zones in a particular country will form a country. A country director, who serves as a member of the VG board of directors, may head two or all the zones in that country. The country director will be nominated by the zones in the country and elected by the convention for the terms of two consecutive years.

Vedic Global will be governed by a board of directors composed of the global president, the president-elect, the general secretary, and various country and zone directors. The nomination and the election of each president will be handled in the one- to three-year period before he/she takes office, and will be based on requirements including geographical balance among Vedic Country and Zones and previous service as a district governor and board member. The Global board will meet quarterly to establish policies and make recommendations to the overall governing bodies, the VG Convention and the VG Council on Legislation.

General Secretary

Vedic Global will have a general secretary, who also acts as a chief operating officer and leads the Vedic Global Foundation.
