Vedic Global celebrates Janamashtmi and officially unveils Shishu Mandir

On 11th August 2020, Vedic Global celebrated Krishna Janamashtmi (Lord Krishna’s birthday) with joy and reverence. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebrations were conducted virtually. The event was compered by Sonila Sharma, who brilliantly used both Hindi and English in outlining the proceedings.

At the start of the event, the directors (HP Bharadwaj, Rakesh Raizada and Monica Raizada) of Vedic Global were introduced, followed by an insight into the activities of Vedic Global. While Shishu Mandir (a school for children to learn Vedic philosophies) has been running for the last four months in Melbourne, this event also doubled up as its formal launch. All the brilliant teachers Monica Raizada, Sonila Sharma, Poonam Arora, Aparna Khanna, Bubby Bhagat and Drishti Khurana who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes on a weekly basis were introduced. The students of the first batch of Shishu Mandir were also introduced, and some of them spoke about their learning experiences and how it has been rewarding.

This was followed by the screening of multiple dancing and singing videos produced by the students of Shishu Mandir. The videos celebrated the life of Shri Krishna, a revered Hindu God. The enthusiasm of the children was palpable in the videos and kudos goes to the children and the teachers who prepared their acts in a short span of time. The acts were appreciated by all the participants.

A mesmerising dance performance was delivered by a senior student Rachana Koorthy of Rachana Natyalaya, followed by an enchanting hymn recital by Madhuri Vasa from the acclaimed Ragaamrutha Music School.  To further entertain the audience, a Kahoot-based quiz was also played with the winner taking home an exciting prize.

Last but not least, Krishna aarti (prayer) was performed with all the virtual participants. The prayer was followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Aparna Khanna who thanked everyone for making this sacred day in the Hindu calendar a success.

If you are keen to enrol your child in Shishu Mandir so they can also learn Vedic principles and philosophies in a fun learning environment, please register them via https://vedicglobal.org/student-registration-form/. Enthusiastic teachers can also register their interest via  https://vedicglobal.org/teachers-registration-form/

May we all remember what Lord Krishna taught humanity in the Bhagavat Gita and may we always follow the path of Dharma (religion) and keep on doing good karma (actions).
